On July 14th 1789, French revolutionaries stormed into the Bastille prison, a symbol of the tyrannic monarchy. They succeeded to dismantle it and signal the beginning of the French revolution. King Louis 16, his wife Marie-Antoinette, and thousands of people were executed. The events were triggered by the fury of the French people against the established regime. There was a severe famine in the country worsened by a tyrannic oppression and the extravagant life-style of the upper-classes.
