Why the Placebo Effect Scares Big Pharma?

The placebo effect is when your body produces healing effects while believing it’s taking medication. The human brain actually assists in the process of physical self-healing.

In 2002, 180 patients who were suffering knee osteoarthritis were randomly assigned to one of three groups: one had a standard arthroscopic procedure, the second had lavage, and the last had sham surgery. Surprisingly, all of them had similar results.

This experiment proved that the placebo effect goes beyond the traditional sugar pill; covering also surgeries and other medical procedures.

In the following video, Abby Martin interviews Dr. Wayne B. Jonas, President & CEO of the Samueli Institute on the placebo effect and why it scares Big Pharma so much.
